It's the year of the OX

Arrggghhhh.... Yes, that's the sound of frustration for it's the 3rd year in a row that I've missed Chinese New Year (CNY) which falls on 26th Jan (year of the Ox). I've been trying to suppress the memories of how fun the festival is. Infact that's the only festival that I totally love and look forward to especially when I'm a kid.

It's a festival so big and grand, it's celebrated by the entire country and we even have 2 days of national holiday just for this festival. Seriously, this festival is the champion of all festival (we have to multiply 200 times of Christmas just to match 1 CNY) !!!

I recalled buying new clothes inside out and it means right down to your underwear to shoes and new haircut. It's a time when we shop till we drop and our mother will not bat an eyelid, infact your mother will nag at you to buy new clothes to welcome the New Year.

I have to mention the yummy goodies that we'll be stuffing into our mouth from CNY's eve right till everything runs out and that is a long time for the yummy-licious food to run out since we'll stock up like there's no tomorrow. (If you think that Thanks Giving is a day filled with nonstop eating ?? Wait till you see the feast that's presented in every single household).

Wait, there's the perk of it all, the Red packet filled with money !!!! It's like a surprise cause you never know how much you'll going to receive in that red packet or for the entire new year. When you're home and all alone in your room, you'll spread every single red packet in your bed and start unwrapping every single envelope that you can see and start counting the cold hard cash in your hands. The excitement and contented smile on your face when you realised you strike lottery. But that gloat is not over cause when you returned back to school, you start asking each other how much $ they received and then the gloating smile will surface everytime you recalled you've earned yourself the bragging rights. But if you fall behind, no worries cause there's always next year to look forward to.

Now that I'm married, I'm on the other side of the field. I am no longer entitled to receiving the red packet but am distributing the red packet (only the single are entitled to receiving the red packet). Yes, even thought I would be bleeding $ left and right but nothing can beat the 15 glorious days of CNY !!!!

Hopefully, me and Paul can return back to Sing next year where I can show him what CNY is all about.

P/S: I wish every one a properous and happy Chinese New Year !!! =)

Christmas 08

Yes... I know, it's mid January and Christmas had long gone and I promised to load the photos from Chrismas like donkey years ago. But it's winter and I've finally recovered from hibernating and I've now finally managed to sorting out the photos that was taken during Christmas (Thank God ! ) .

To summarise, we had a good Christmas. There's tons of laughters, we're thankful that everyone in the Family is healthy, safe and sound. The fun we all had when receiving presents and the faces of those whom we gave presents to. Paul is extremely estastic since he finally have his immediate family together to celebrate Christmas with him for the very first time.

Unfortunately we were all hoping to see and play in the snow this year and that didn't come true but but hey, there's always next year to look forward to and this Christmas, we all had fun and spent the Christmas together as a family and that's all that matters.

2 years ago today.....

Yup, it's our glorious 2nd year wedding anniversary and it's been a roller coaster ride for the past year before we even get here. Many times I wish to live each day peaceful and calm but again I wonder, wouldn't life be boring and stagnant then ???

But on the other hand, I don't want the drama and trauma either, I just want to have the peace and harmony that I deserve !!!! (Yes, I often contradict myself and it's a pattern).

A year had passed and it's our 2nd year wedding anniversary today. Paul have been complaining to me, when other married men are only required to remember only 1 wedding anniversary, he had to remember 2 cause we had our wedding once in the US and another in Singapore. Thus I've made a deal with him, he remember the one we had in US and I remember the wedding we had in Singapore.

Unfortunately, Paul had inherit my flu and sore throat so we're not doing anything super sonic. Just a simple dinner in Outback Steak House where we went 2 years ago on 11 Jan 07.... But currently my "Personal Chef" enduring a stuffed blocked nose with a tissue in one hand and with the other available hand, he is whipping up my favourite beer battered deep fried mushroom and deep fried green bell peppers for me, just cause I love them... now that's TRUE LOVE ! In sickness and in health, with germs and virus....

I found this photo which was taken 2 yrs ago in my MIL's place where we celebrated our first Christmas.... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABY !!!! *grin

Farewell Sore Throat

After 10 days of taking shots of cough mixture like they are vodka and popping cough drops like candy, I am relief to announce that I am now back to normal. Yeah, farewell to nasty sore throat !

Today from Cecilia, I've realised that Facebook is super popular with almost everyone back in Sing. Yes, I have created a Facebook account ages ago but somehow I'm just not that into it and let's say the status is constantly "inactive". Until Cecilia told me that some of our long lost High School classmates are on Facebook and they are tracking each other down.

Yup, guess I better start playing around and update my facebook now ! Yes, I know I promised to upload photos of our Christmas, but for now, I'll spend sometime to load some photos to my Facebook thus others can have a peep at it and also if the PC crash, at least the photos are safe somewhere ... i.e in FaceBook !

I cannot believe my luck ...

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALLLLLLL !!!

As insane as it may seem or the way fate is supposed to be, I've been jumping and hopping around the entire year of 2008 without even a sneeze or a snort and just when I'm ready to attend our Neighbour's New Year Eve party, I am down with high fever !
When I thought the fever is gone, I was so wrong. 2 hours before I'm ready to party, the fever returned along with a burning sore throat. Yeah, just my luck !

So that's my fate, for New Year's Eve and the entire of New Year's Day and even till now, I welcome the new year in bed with my drugs beside me. It's definately not a happy sight. The burn remain in my throat like a leech that is not going away...

Don't worry Folks, I am popping cough drops like candy and drinking cough mixture like it's soda. Hopefully I will stand strong like a winner. As for now, I'm still groggy and throat is still burning. Fever seems to vanish for now cause of the cold shower I just had and we hope it stay that way.

Until I am fit and ready to download the photos, may everyone enjoy Good Health and Happy Days ahead !

Love Sickie D
